concert casual

April 29, 2015

Day one of the Azalea Festival did not disappoint. I am all about outfit changes, so getting to go from pleated & proper, to beachy boho, to concert casual all in one day really reiterated the diverse and unique goings-on that Wilmington and the weekend had to offer. Ending the evening walking around downtown at sunset and listening to Carly Jo Jackson jam in the Belk tent is as close as it gets to my idea of the perfect Friday night > insert hands up in happiness emoji<.

Band at Bluewater

April 28, 2015

What I love about the Azalea Festival is that each event and occasion has it's own vibe and the chance to experience different atmospheres all in one city. Immediately following the more traditional Airlie Garden Party (here comes another pun) I didn't want to miss a beat, so I changed into a beachy, more relaxed look for a chance to listen to the musical stylings of another Road South artist- the very talented, Chase Likens and his band at Bluewater on the river.
You don't have to ask me twice to have a drink underneath palm trees with a waterfront view, but ladies- there was a dang view. Y'all are welcome in advance for the eye candy. These guys were so funny and dynamic, it was awesome to hang out with them before the performance (and a round of loaded cheese fries) in such a great location with the Belk team. Check out more scenes from the weekend with #BelkScene and #RoadSouth !
Love a breezy beach bar.

Weekend in Wilmington with Belk

April 27, 2015

I had the awesome opportunity to channel my inner Belle and attend the North Carolina
Azalea festival with Belk a couple of weeks ago, and even though I feel like I just left- I already can't wait to go back. The Azalea Festival has been a Southern tradition for almost 70 years that includes garden and cocktail parties, home tours, street fairs, and a parade all in the charming and historic port city of Wilmington when the Azalea bushes are in full bloom.
And they are glooorious (Will Farrel voice).
This year,  live music was an instrumental part of the entire weekend (pun 100% intended) and some of my favorite times were getting to chill and listen to the awesome artists on tour with Belk for their Road South tour. With the recent popularity in music festivals across the country, it's hard to ignore one of their most undeniable components- the fashion.
I can't strum a chord to save my life, but I can outfit plan for watching other people do it like nobodies business. My style evolves and changes everyday, I like to try trends as well as incorporate classics- so I headed to Belk to pick up looks for all of the fun events each with different vibes ranging from preppy (hello, Searucker suits!) to formal, to boho. This week, I'll be sharing all of the looks that Wilmington based photographer, Chris Brehmer captured while I was in town, starting with this lace and pleated dress for the annual Garden Party at Airlie Gardens,  where got a real taste of gentile Southern Charm. And it even came in a Belk coozie!
Can't pass up a fountain photo op.
They don't call it the Azalea Festival for nothin.
Love this cream color when I've a tan goin on!
