OLD NAVY Blush Blouse, MOSSIMO Kelly Green Jeans, MIA Leopard Loafers

insta weekend

Friday: found one of my first vintage purchases from high school- clip on door knocker earrings.
They are nice and painful when worn for more than 5-7 minutes.
SILENCE & NOISE Herringbone blazer, OLD NAVY Bird Print Top

No pain, no gain!....Haven't quite figured out exactly what it is that I'm gaining though.
So I switched to a green necklace & lighter blazer.

Button buzz

February 25, 2012

Watching my husband button his plain white or blue collared shirts every morning always makes me pity the lackluster business suit. Homeboy needs some flair up in here! I suggested he replace his tiny collar buttons with some fun funky ones that I collect from assorted clothing articles and he was like, "What in God's name is wrong with you, woman??" Jkjk, he doesn't call me woman, he calls me nut job. Well fine then, I'll do it myself. Watch and learn, buddy! I didn't want to permanently change or ruin any of my collared shirts by sewing or hot gluing buttons on them, and I don't think I even own two matching loose buttons so....lightbulb! I thought of my sets of stud earrings. I could easily change them out, and they are perfect because they're temporary like pins. One of my favorite pair of studs are these rhinestone bees I got from ASOS a couple years ago.

I just poked them through the tips of the collar , and voila! Instant glitz. Like instant grits, except with jeweled insects instead of ground corn. If you know me and me feelings for collars than you must understand this was a W in my book, because the possibilities are endless! One button up...dozens of collars, without buying anything new.

Pretty Prep

February 23, 2012

Down here in the Carolinas, Sperry's are a staple, for both girls & guys. When I first got to Charlotte, I was like...why are all these girls wearing the same shoes as my dad? I eventually got a cute pastel green pair, but I haven't seen them in years. I've mentioned a time or two that every year we go to Hilton Head Island, SC for the Heritage Golf Tournament. I've explained before that there is more or less a uniform for attending the week long event- ultra prep. As soon as I saw these shoes last month, the tournament  popped into my head. These platforms would parlay perfectly with every outfit you'd need while enjoying your time on boats, watching golf, and a having cocktail or ten. While preppy isn't quite my style, I think the floral pair are pretty dang cute.

buckle up.

So, I've been holding out on sharing my strange love for these barbaric belts for a little while because sometimes I think that advocating something too far fetched will result in y'all questioning my lack of judgement. But what is the point of having this outlet if not to project onto you innocent bystanders my deepest fashion dreams and desires?? Enter....the harness belt.
ASOS belt $28.65
ASOS Studded Belt $71.62
I know there's something medieval and almost tortuous looking about it, but I was instantly drawn. I will admit, the first couple options are a little extreme, and you'd probably spend more time explaining rather than enjoying yourself at whatever fĂȘte you chose to don one of these to, but I think the waist-to-hip version below is super flattering and could work in several different ways.
ASOS 3 Strap Harness Belt $32.23
I'm going to try this blush colored three strap belt first to get my feet wet. And if you never see me again it's because I was mistaken for an extra from the sequel to 300 (which I'm sure would be aptly titled "301") and was shipped back to set.

Manic manicure

February 22, 2012

I've made the executive decision that this is my favorite manicure of all time.

I think if I added some seafoam green, it would be a nail-art depiction of my cloffice.
I've tried this mani many a time and I just can't get it to look good enough to put a top coat on and wear outside.
I've tried to do easier versions of it,but I've yet to get the black oval just right.
I decided I'm going to get an acrylic set of nails put on, and leave it to the professionals. In the mean time though, I managed this look
which is a semi-successful love child of these similar motifs also high on my list of must have hands.

I was going to wait to show my final picures until I had it just right, but I'd rather show ya'll my realistic struggles through the developmental stages of modern day nail art. Practice makes perfect.
No it doesn't. Just go have the Korean lady at Lucky is You Nails do it.
