Into Fruition

March 29, 2011

I suppose my last few posts have motivated me to create this one in an attempt to display the fruits of my labor (and when I say labor, I mean checking my go-to websites incessantly to make sure my little love bugs are still available, or better yet- on sale!). As I have started to collect item by item from my wish lists, I found that from cart to closet, I've slowly but surely accumulated a whole new wardrobe! Looking at my pieces in their new home sweet home, I sigh and think "ahhh, a dream realized." Un Problema- I am the poster-child for all dressed up, no place to go. Being a wife and mother has drastically shifted my priorities for the better, so my social life (which embarrassingly enough was number one) has been replaced by weekends on the couch with my three very best friends watching episode after episode of Yo Gabba Gabba. Needless to say, I don't walk around my house in full makeup and suede 5" heels with two babies on my hips. Don't get me wrong, Alex and I partake in our fair share of outings where I have the opportunity to get dressed up and actually utilize my closet. However, it's no longer everyday that I enjoy my favorite past time- putting together an outfit. L-o-n-g story short, I felt the best way for me to justify purchasing clothes that I seldom wear, was to take pictures in them.
Because, let's get serious people- thanks to the phenomenon that is Facebook (a tabloid for civilians) if you weren't photographed in it, you never wore it. Period. Even though my low budget (well, no budget) project of enlisting my own husband to take pictures of me on my parents back porch is the LEAST big deal ever, I was oddly nervous. Trying to do my best Blue Steel in front of the person who sees me wake up every morning in a puddle of drool was more embarrassing and humbling than anything else. Not to mention, every time I did a costume change, Alex did his usual "what the hell are you wearing?" After the first dozen or so snaps though, we both started to loosen up and have fun with it, and I SAH-WEAR he even shockingly said "Can we do this for a living???" Mwahahahaa I've converted my little country fried steak into the next David LaChapelle. KIDDING, but without further ado...a small sampling from my makeshift /unaccessorized photo shoot:
